About Charlotte

Photo by Spencer MosesCharlotte Pines grew up in a small town about an hour north of Albany, New York.  She is the only child of two fabulous artists - her mother was in the original Bernstein Mass, and is a wonderful singer and teacher, and her father is poet/novelist/psychotherapist Paul Pines

She began performing for her parents as soon as she could walk, doing a surprise performance of Maleficent's curse on the baby Aurora, at the age of two, (unfortunately no footage of Charlotte's performance exists, but you can watch the original and imagine.)  In addition to a rich imaginary life, Charlotte's childhood was spent seriously pursuing ballet, karate and piano lessons.  She made her stage debut on the stage of the Kensington Road School auditorium as the title role in Mrs. Edmunds' kindergarten production of Snow White; some would argue it is her best work to date.

Charlotte attended SUNY New Paltz, pursuing an Acting major and a minor in Philosophy.  She was fortunate enough to play a lead in a mainstage production nearly every semester, and to work with some fantastic students and mentors.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude and left academia behind.  For now.

Since her arrival in New York in late 2009, Charlotte has performed, literally non-stop, in independent and student-directed films, (check out her reel!) theatrical productions, workshops and classes, having as many new experiences, and meeting as many amazing people as the daylight allowed.

She spent the better part of the last year appearing naked and covered in blood, (no, really,) in the Off-Broadway thriller, Play Dead, the play by Teller of Penn & Teller and Todd Robbins star of the Coney Island side show, as Margery the Boston Medium.  Press appeared in many publications and periodicals, including the December 2010 issue of Vanity Fair, the New York Times called it a “gleefully grotesque orgy of death and fright”, and said finally “this wild, wicked show is not just a screamfest after all; it’s a pretty good piece of theater.” (Find out more here!)

In addition to her great love of acting, Charlotte is also passionate about traveling, adventuring, studying linguistics and philosophy, animals, literature, doing new things, trying new foods, and listening to crazy new music.  She lives in Brooklyn with her cat, Prince Meowrice Luther Miguel Halfstache Pines, the first, and is frequently visited by her adorable parents.
